ABOUT YELY’S FIRST DAY:

Yely’s First Day is Yelyna De Leon’s award winning children’s book which was published by Read Conmigo, whose mission is to promote bilingual literacy. The story is about a little girl, Yely, who moves from Mexico to the States and is afraid to go to school because she doesn’t speak a lot of English. The story is semi-autobiographical and inspired by Yelyna’s first day of school in Chicago. Yelyna is a product of bilingual education and knows the importance of bilingual literature for kids which is why she wrote this story and continues to write bilingual stories for all children to enjoy.
